Mixed bag at KIF qualifying swim

Kaua‘i High senior Kamaira Silva swims the freestyle leg of the 200 medley relay on Saturday during the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation qualifying swim meet at the YMCA pool in Puhi. Silva’s team fell short of qualifying with its first-place finish, but Silva qualified in the 100 freestyle on a 56.95 swim.

Kaua‘i High senior Rich Jacob swims the backstroke leg of the 200-yard medley relay on Saturday during the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation qualifying swim meet at the YMCA pool in Puhi. His team finished first at 1:55.37 and was one of the seven swims qualifying for the state meet this day.

PUHI — The Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation qualifying swim meet produced a mixed bag of results with seven times making the qualifying cut for the state championships on Saturday, Jan. 21, in the remnants of overnight rain, cold, and wind at the YMCA pool.
