Congratulations, Riley Higa, on becoming the newest member of the state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office team (we haven’t even had that much events to work with Karah Ray yet), who was embarking on a new project Monday.
The outreach team was talking about a variety of subjects, starting with disaster preparedness (it’s hurricane season now), and including prevention of rat lungworm disease. Doesn’t that give you a sense of confidence in buying fresh produce from all those farmers who know what they’re doing?

Sarah Pacheco of Hawai‘i Pacific Health is encouraging people planning on attending the free keiki bicycle and skateboarding event Saturday (it’s from 8 to 11 a.m.) to preregister by visiting the Wilcox Medical Center website, hawaiipacifichealth.org, so they don’t run out of the freebies.
And, it’s also the last weekend before the Kaua‘i Visitor Industry Charity Walk. What? The charity walk bowling is on the same night as the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market? Need to go early for best parking.
