The Gannaway family from Texas had a reunion (Atticus Gannaway came from New York!) of sorts and celebrated the 51st wedding anniversary of Geoff (he said the last time he saw Kaua‘i was through a periscope of a submarine) and Carol Gunnaway from Hunt, Texas with Geoff (he’s not a junior), Emily (she was pretty far from the red shrimp place), Azeale, and Liora (who had that sugarloaf Phrosty?) at the Grove Farm Market in Puhi Saturday, where the “Gannaways Getaway” T-shirts they were wearing was a distraction from the conversation going on with chef Jakki Nelson (nope, no racing Thursday because Fast Company is racing on O‘ahu).

Kudos to Len Clavo of Marcus’ Cheesecake (somebody said the ube cheesecake looked “OMG!”), who is a new vendor at the market, where former Kaua‘i Police Department Chief Brian Fujiuchi was trying to find the Kaua‘i Kim Chee tent. Just look for the smoke (no, Ferdinand Dosono wasn’t doing it Saturday so the smoke was not the same).
Mahalo, Al Oppio and Liz Kern of Nevada for not only providing all those nice trophies but a surprise contribution to Kelvin Moniz and Robyn Pettersen of the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank. KIFB’s Kawai Gampon missed out because he had to get ready for the Miss Kaua‘i Filipina Scholarship Pageant. His sister Isabel Gampon will crown the next Miss Hawai‘i Filipino next month after holding the title for three years due to COVID-19 cancellations. Congratulations, pageant chair Nancy Apalla and her many, many hands, on a great event!
