When Marlene Kalahiki Schimmelfennig reigned as Miss Hawai‘i, Eduardo Malapit was the mayor of Kaua‘i, she said Sunday at Lihu‘e Airport when returning home from the Miss Hawai‘i pageant on O‘ahu, where she was invited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her reign.

What? Got Miss Latina, but no Miss Kaua‘i?
