HONOLULU – Central Pacific Bank (CPB) is pleased to introduce Tim Sakahara as its assistant vice president and corporate communications manager joining an accomplished team in CPB’s Marketing Division. Sakahara’s primary roles are in media and public relations where he will highlight the actions by CPB and its dedicated employees as the bank implements its digital first strategy with a continued emphasis on exceptional customer service.
“It was an honor working in Mayor Rick Blangiardi’s administration and serving the people in the City and County of Honolulu, especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Sakahara. “Leaving the team at the city was a difficult decision as I enjoyed working with such an intelligent group of people, however the opportunity with CPB was too great to let go. I am excited to join another distinguished and talented team and look forward to sharing the stories of CPB’s impactful customer and community contributions throughout our state.”
Sakahara brings 23 years of professional experience in communications, media relations and government affairs and has established himself as a trusted source for information for the community. Before joining CPB, Sakahara served as the communications director for the City and County of Honolulu, the eleventh largest municipality in the country, working on critical issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic response, budgetary and financial matters, and core city services vital to everyday life on our island.
He also served the State of Hawaii working as communications director and spokesperson for the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), which includes 15 airports, 10 commercial harbors, 2,500 lane miles of highway and 2,600 employees.
Prior to coordinating the city and HDOT’s communication plans, Sakahara was as an award-winning journalist for 17 years working in television markets around the country including, Honolulu, San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Oklahoma City, and Southern Oregon.
In addition to his professional experience, Sakahara is active in the community and enjoys volunteering for various charitable organizations, schools, and teams. He is a proud graduate of UCLA where he earned a degree in Political Science.
