Mo‘olelo Murals artists Holly Ka‘iakapu, Bethany Coma and Brie Blake (anyone check out the new mural led by Seth Thomas at The Right Slice in Kalaheo yet?) are absent due to the long weekend, leaving their canvases to serve as shelter by those seeking shelter from the weekend rains and chilling wind.
Feral fowl loitering at the canvas bases are telltale signals of which boards are occupied. Their messages that make Kress Street unique in the world show strong and attract a variety of visitors who use the canvases as backdrops for their Kaua‘i photographic memories.
And, this Saturday, the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market opens from 4 p.m., according to a new sign posted high over the strip of canvases.
Kudos to the “couple of dozen” volunteers who braved the threat of inclement weather to help with the Healing Horses community work day Sunday! Executive Director Samantha Henriques (the “test plot” is doing nicely, thank you) has been on the front line of all that wind and rain for the past several days and is grateful for the help, and will be asking for more as the calendar moves on despite the bad weather.
