Kudos to Stephanie Iona (did it take as long as the Pau Hana Market giveaway?), Warren Haruki and all those Kaua‘i Pop Warner Football League elves (they were helping last week at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center, too) on cranking out more than 200 pumpkins on Saturday during the Grove Farm Market in Puhi. Mel Rapozo (wife Patsy Rapozo was helping with the KPWFL crew!) had photos of his Warren Haruki tomatoes that were starting to get color.

Kudos, too, to Stacie Chiba-Miguel and her The Shops at Kukui‘ula crew on giving away their pumpkins on Friday with the help of Girl Scout Troop 964 (Joni Ito said the girls have been waiting to do something to get out). Trinette Kaui and Patty Kamakea came over from the Port Allen office of Alexander & Baldwin, and even Jackie Kanna made a special trip to deliver the Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation Kaua‘i Region bags (Stephanie said they saved the orange ones for the Puhi market, and gave out the blue ones for the Westside). The Shops at Kukui‘ula also hosts its Classic Cars Trunk or Treat gathering this Friday from 4 p.m. And yes, you do need reservations.
There’s one last round of Freaky Fridays with Tiffany Dick and the Aloha Dance Studio Mini Monsters and Zombies before the Halloween drive-thru (you need to register ahead of time at kukuigrovecenter.com) Saturday.
And, there’s more for Halloween, as The Resilience Project hosts its Trunk or Treat on Sunday at Kukui Grove Center from 3 p.m. After that, there’s the King’s Chapel drive-thru Halloween from 5 to 7 p.m. at the ‘Ele‘ele chapel behind the ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center, and the one behind Anchor Cove on Nawiliwili Road in Nawiliwili.
And, if you’re looking for what to do with all that candy, the Kalaheo Dental Group is doing its annual candy buyback Monday from 2 p.m. (right after school lets out).
