Gregorio ‘Gorio’ Planas
Gregorio “Gorio” Planas, of Kaumakani, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 27, 2021, at the age of 97. He was born on May 25, 1924, in Bangued Abra, Philippines. He was a heavy equipment operator for Olokele Sugar Plantation.
Gorio was preceded in death by parents Pedro and Alejandra Planas, sisters Aurelia Pe Benito Planas Bachiller, Dolores Planas Domenden, Magdalena Padilla, brother Juan Planas, sons-in-law Gerard Silva and Don Evans.
Gorio is survived by wife Aurora Planas, sons Leslie (Dina) Planas, Gregory (Laurie) Planas, Jared (Melissa) Planas, daughters Bridget Evans, Georgia Silva, Analisa (Kendall) Oshiro, Maybeline (Albert) Parbo, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary. Walk-through visitation will be at 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Kekaha Public Cemetery. Due to Covid 19, masks and social distancing required

Norine M. Kusaka
Norine M. Kusaka, 64, of Lihu‘e passed away on July 21, 2021, at home. She was born in Lihu‘e on Nov. 5, 1956. She was the owner of NMK Janitorial Services.
Norine was preceded in death by her father Yukitoshi H. Kusaka and brother Dwayne Kusaka.
Norine is survived by her partner Valerie Nagano, mother Fely Kusaka, brother Royden (Weena) Kusaka, numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and cousins.
A drive-by Celebration of Life will be held at Niumalu Pavilion on Sept. 25, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Social distancing and masks are required.

Violet K. Kahokuloa
Violet K. Kahokuloa passed away on Aug. 25, 2021, at the age of 71 in Lihu‘e. She was born on Oct. 27, 1949, in Pu‘uwai, Ni‘ihau. She was a Ni‘ihau Shell lei maker.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband Kuuopuulani Kahokuloa, father Kuramatsu Shintani, Sr., mother Kanohoana Kanahele, brothers Suma Shintani, Kau‘i Shintani and Keali‘i Shintani and nephew Li‘i Boy Shintani.
Violet is survived by her sons Pulani Kahokuloa, John Kahokuloa, Makaio Kahokuloa, Wailani Kahokuloa, Kealoha Kahokuloa, daughters Pupu Masuda, Haunani Pascua, La‘i Kahokuloa, Momi Shintani, 39 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brother Kalei Shintani, Sr. of Kekaha, sister Kahiko Shintani of Pu‘uwai, Ni’ihau, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at the Kealia Post Office property at 5 p.m. Services will be to shared music and memories followed by a Hawaiian style potluck paina. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and face masks are required.
