Vincent James ‘Jim’ DeCosta
Vincent James “Jim” DeCosta passed away on Aug. 14, 2021, at the age of 64, in Lihu‘e. He was born on March 8, 1957 in Waimea. He was a security guard at the National Tropical Botanical Garden.
He was preceded in death by father Vincent DeCosta, mother Bertha Jean DeCosta and brother Michael Alan DeCosta.
He is survived by wife Gerlinda M. DeCosta, sons Keola James (Courtney Brown) DeCosta and Vincent Kapono (Kathlen Lee) DeCosta, daughter Alanna (Neila Tuakoi) DeCosta, grandchildren Faith L. DeCosta-Tuakoi, Harmony H. DeCosta-Tuakoi, Havea Tuakoi and Hausia Tuakoi, brothers Damien M. DeCosta Sr. and Craig (Shauna Lee Cahill) DeCosta and sister Theresa C. DeCosta Koki, all of Kaua‘i, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at St. Raphael Church in Koloa on Saturday, Sept. 11, with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by Mass. The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and face masks are required.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Aurelio ‘Al’ Ramelb
Aurelio “Al” Ramelb, 79, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Aug. 30, 2021. He was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Nov. 12, 1941, and was a finance clerk staff sergeant of the U.S. Army, retired from the Sheraton Kaua‘i Hotel and was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by parents Rosendo Fernandez and Isabella Madrid Ramelb, and brother Federico Ramelb.
He is survived by son Joshua (Sylvia) Jones of Las Vegas, brother Patricio (Dorrine) Ramelb, sisters Felicidad (Anthony, deceased) Divina and Angelita (Irvin) Green, and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
A celebration of life is Thursday Sept. 23, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation to begin at 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Following Mass there will be an inurnment at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home. Face masks and social distancing are required.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
