LIHU‘E — Keller Williams Kaua‘i celebrated Renew, Energize and Donate Day, or RED Day, by engaging in an island-wide fundraising campaign to benefit Nourish Kaua‘i.
“We just got through work for Wednesday,” said Carolyn Freuler of Nourish Kaua‘i. “I’m still in my work clothes, the kids and dogs are waiting in the car.”
Kristine Dugan represented the agents and staff of KW Kaua‘i and presented Feuler with a check for $5,450. The annual RED Day of service usually takes place during the second week in May. KW Kaua‘i’s participation was among more than 182,000 Keller Williams associates participating in RED Day around the world.
The amount kept growing as KW Kaua‘i associates opened envelopes containing even more checks.
Freuler said the gift comes at a time when Nourish Kaua‘i’s primary donor keeps looking for help beyond grants to keep the program of “nourishing Kaua‘i with locally-sourced ingredients and love” going.
Since COVID-19 attacked the shores of Hawai‘i, Nourish Kaua‘i has provided more than 50,000 hot meals through its various programs, including the Kokua Kupuna program that provided meal kits with locally-sourced and nutritionally- dense ingredients that ended in early May for kupuna from Anahola to Kalaheo, funded through donations from the Frank and Belinda Vandersloot Foundation.
Nourish Kaua‘i also participated in the Child &Family Service Festival of Hope for Families with its chef-made meals.
Freuler said the Nourish Kaua‘i food pantry program also provides weekly Friday drive-thru food — perishable and nonperishable — and prayer available by partnering with the Crossroads Christian Fellowship from 4:30 p.m. on the Kapa‘a bypass road.

What a joke! They donated 5.5k of the millions they have earned in the process of exploiting Kaua’i and her people to drive up the costs of housing, and make a handsome profit during COVID, when the housing costs have been booming and driving locals off the island, which frees up more inventory so they can keep draining every last penny from the very types of people they’re now throwing a few measly pennies at.
This isn’t really even an article! it’s a full page advertisement!

OK so this donation is about 10 cents for each of the hot meals that have been provided in the last 14 months. Clearly this is not even remotely newsworthy.
The bible says:
“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”
Matthew 6:3-4
