HONOLULU — Health officials in Hawaii have reported 113 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases across the state on Sunday, increasing the statewide total to more than 32,500 infections since the pandemic began early last year.
The Hawaii Department of Health said there were no virus-related deaths, keeping the statewide total at 483 deaths, including 374 fatalities on Oahu.
The report includes cases reported to the department on Friday, officials said.
There were 80 reported cases in Honolulu County, 16 in Maui County, nine in Kauai County, three in Hawaii County and five residents diagnosed outside the state, health officials said. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that one previous case appears to have been removed from the state’s tally.
There have been more than 1,100 new infections in the state in the last two weeks.
As of Sunday, the state has administered about 1.4 million vaccine doses through state and federal programs. More than 53% of the state’s population has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Some 35% of the population is fully vaccinated.
Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, breathing trouble, sore throat, muscle pain and loss of taste or smell. Most people develop only mild symptoms. But some people, usually those with other medical complications, develop more severe symptoms, including pneumonia. Sometimes people with a coronavirus infection display no symptoms.
