LIHU‘E — The state Department of Health vaccine clinic at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e is now accepting walk-ins for residents age 60 and older and those needing language assistance. The vaccine manufactured by Moderna is available at this location.
Residents aged 60 or older who have yet to schedule an appointment can walk into the convention hall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9 and 11 a.m. and receive shots.
Bring a cell phone or access to an email address.
Language assistance is available, including Ilokano, Tagalog, Marshallese, Spanish, Hawaiian, simplified Chinese and Thai.
All other clinics and all other age groups require an appointment.
Kaua‘i residents age 16 and older can make appointments at locations around the island by visiting kauai.gov/vaccine.
1 new case of COVID-19 Saturday
The DOH Kaua‘i District Health Office reported one new case of COVID-19 on Saturday.
Saturday’s case is an adult male visitor who was tested on Kaua‘i but left the island before his test results were received. He will not be considered an active case on Kaua‘i since his isolation will be monitored by his state of residency. The source of his infection is under investigation.
All close contacts identified by the investigation were fully vaccinated and, therefore, are not subject to quarantine, but have been instructed to self-monitor for symptoms.
Saturday’s case brings the number of active cases to one, with 235 cumulative cases. The one active case remains hospitalized.
