Hali‘i’s unicorn outfit should have qualified her for the Read Across America dress-up and the special book premium, and Gretchen Pascual was true to her word of helping out at the busy event where Taylor Shigemoto and Morgan Lopez announced the special reading challenge for spring break: Read eight books and earn a free book from Hawai‘iUSA Federal Credit Union, which sponsored the giveaway of 117 books (and more. Application forms available for books at the Hawai‘iUSA outreach office near Times Supermarket) in the event that was booked solid on the first day.
Melody Pigao of the Kilohana Clothing Co. Girl Scout Kaua‘i Director Angela Hoover said to order your cookies early, because GS Troop 775 (they’re from all over, Sabrina Bodon!) already ran out of Thin Mints during last week’s outing at the Wailua Shopping Center. The girls were able to re-stock in time for the pickups Friday at the GS Kaua‘i Service Center off Rice Street in Lihu‘e, near the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall, but once the flavors are gone, it’s a long wait until next year’s season.
