LIHU‘E — Layton Construction is inviting anyone who wants to help to join its food drive that will benefit the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch.
Mia Checkley, project assistant for Layton Construction, said the company is holding a food drive at all of its Kaua‘i jobsites as well as its main office in Lihu‘e through Thursday, Dec. 17. The collection will be delivered to the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch on Friday, Dec. 18.
“Please help us feed Kaua‘i’s hungry during these most-trying times,” Checkley said.
The top five most-requested items, according to the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch, are canned meats such as Spam, tuna, chicken, etc.; canned meals, including chili and ravioli; canned vegetables of all types; canned fruits of all types; and rice.
People can drop off their contributions at the following jobsites wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment, including face masks, and observing social distancing:
• 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay at 5520 Haku Road, Princeville, attention Mia Checkley;
• Pua Loke affordable housing on Pua Loke Road, attention Trey Smith;
• Wilcox Medical Center generator replacement in Lihu‘e, attention Jesse Larson;
• Layton Construction, 4463 Pahe‘e Street, Lihu‘e, attention Jeanie Tavares.
