Kudos, Elizabeth Freeman and Manu Fonua for getting the troops (Tovi Boiser of HawaiianTel.com is a new face) out to decorate the trees on the lawn of the Historic County Building on Rice Street in Lihu‘e. What? No inside displays? One of the installers said the Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center inmates are going to miss having their creativity shine, and Janice Bond said this weekend they bring out the trees that will be in front of the Historic County Building’s front. All this gets turned on, officially, Thanksgiving Day.
Capt. Rod Green (he’s the Marine Corps League commander, too) represented the Kaua‘i Police Department at the outreach, but not before going on the radio to let people know this year’s Toys For Tots (lots of people need some aloha because of COVID-19) kicks off at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center on Black Friday, Nov. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Chyenne Beach, Michelle Panoke, Melissa Ragasa and Tish Ruiz (Michelle was guarding her key) were doing Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch outreach and remind people that Safeway (yes, the Hokulei Village Shopping Center in Puhi and Waipouli Kaua‘i Village stores) are doing a Rice-giving rice drive from Friday through Sunday. You don’t even need to go anywhere, just get the bags at the store.
