The pair’s efforts were reminiscent of elections of yesteryear, when political hopefuls turned out to help during this kind of event where people are being helped. They were planning on doing the Hanalei car show Sunday (I would’ve checked that out, but the police were escorting the Love Has Won group to the airport).
Have you checked out Ken Kubota and David Taboniar at Pono Coffee &Bakery yet? Morris Gomes didn’t realize the place was open in the former Pono Cleaners spot on Kuhio Highway in Kapa‘a when he dropped off his puakenikeni pies like he normally does every other week. Ken said the world problem-solvers are still back at Pono Market because they like to keep an eye on what’s happening on the highway.
Kudos to David “Coach DJ” Adams, the director for Alaka‘i O Kaua‘i charter school, for finishing the Kaua‘i virtual half marathon, Stride for Kaua‘i, 41st overall with a nine-hour, 44-minute time. Kaleo Carvalho from the Mayor’s Office crossed the line at 5:54:54. Kudos to Robin Jumper, who pulled off the feat for nearly 1,000 participants (331 from Kaua‘i) in this crazy world of COVID-19.
