They were part of the crowd gathered at the Nawiliwili jetty wall parking area (so, what kind of toys did you have when you were young, Rhan Honjiyo?), where the Nawiliwili Yacht Club returned to the water following the Fourth of July offshore race to Hanalei. Nope, no Fourth of July picnic because of COVID-19. And no after-race dinner Thursday either.
Kudos to the Lynette Mizuo, Carolyn Yamasaki, Carol Valentine (she’s with the Honpa Social Concerns Committee) and the Lihu‘e Hongwanji Women’s Club on presening the Elsie Wilcox Elementary School (lower grades) with fabric face masks to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (Shaku Arthur Kaufman wanted to attend, but had to do a special video thing for the Honpa Hongwanji with the Rev. Tomo Hojo).
Congratulations to Kelly Kakalia and Makua Woodside and their six employees on a successful launch of The Musubi Truck (that logo would look really nice on a trucker’s cap) a week ago at NoKa (North Kapa‘a) Market in Kapa‘a. They were sold out early, so got to enjoy the long Fourth of July weekend. Now they’re back (shop early because they open from 8 a.m. until everything pau).
