What? No Portuguese bean soup for Mother’s Day?
Kumu hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin of Ka Lei Mokihana o Leina‘ala, and Ann Hashisaka of Kaua‘i Kookie (and Soup Elves Faith Soto — she wants somen? — and Laura Kawamura) give you another chance this Sunday when the free SOUPer Sunday soup giveaway moves back to the parking lot (it’s perfect for a drive-thru) of the Hanapepe Kaua‘i Kookie headquarters along Kaumuali‘i Highway, starting at 4 p.m.
Neill Sams literally scraped the bucket of his greenhouses “so Fely would have something to sell” on Mother’s Day. That is a good thing, because there are always specimens that you literally don’t want to let go until you have to. Neill dropped off the final items before running off for a delivery on the Westside…kudos to Neill, Fely and all those florists and bakers who made Mother’s Day most memorable (maybe Stacie Chiba-Miguel will tell you about hiking in Kalaheo) for 2020.
Wendy Castillo and her St. Theresa School crew are hosting the school’s spring plant sale Saturday, the day following the big high-school graduations (May 23), from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the school’s west parking lot (where the kids normally do the drive-thru assignment turn-ins and pick-ups), and, no, this is not a drive-thru, but social distancing and face masks (who has the best ones to deal with that Westside heat?) are required to attend.
OK, time to check out Puhi Park Produce (the fish sell out early) that starts at 2 p.m., and the continuation of the pop-up market at The Shops at Kukui‘ula that opens from 3:30 p.m. Florence Toyofuku might be there with her butterflies.
