Another dead monk seal

Hawaiian monk seal RW02 swallowed a hook, line and sinker. A fisherman reported the hooked seal to NOAA, and a team was able to remove the contents from its stomach and release the seal back to the wild on Oahu’s North Shore over the weekend. Photo courtesy NOAA.

Hawaiian monk seal RH38 was originally admitted to The Marine Mammal Center in August 2017 for malnutrition and a heavy parasite load, and was successfully released back to Kauai.

HA‘ENA — An adult female Hawaiian monk seal has been found dead on Ha‘ena Beach in Kaua‘i, reported to officials Saturday, April 25, the same day the well-known monk seal Honey Girl’s body was removed from a windward beach on O‘ahu.
