HONOLULU — Wendy F. Odo, the former chief financial 0fficer of Honolulu-based HHL Holdings and its mortgage banking, property management, home maintenance and business outsourcing companies, has been named the new CFO for the Healthcare Association of Hawai‘i.
Odo has more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage and financial-services industries, having worked at Honolulu Mortgage, Bank of Hawai‘i, and Central Pacific HomeLoans. She served as CFO of HHL Holdings for 10 years.
Prior to her mortgage and financial-services career, Odo was an audit manager and the director of recruiting at the Honolulu office of Ernst &Young. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.
“The Healthcare Association of Hawaii welcomes Wendy to the team,” said Hilton Raethel, MPH, MHA, HAH’s president and CEO.
“Her high caliber of financial experience and depth of knowledge will be a true asset as HAH moves into this next decade. The CFO plays a major role in our mission of working with our members across the state to improve the quality and efficiency of the healthcare system in Hawai‘i,” Raethel said.
”Hawai‘i has much to be proud of in terms of its healthcare outcomes, but challenges remain to preserve and improve Hawai‘i’s full continuum of care, which consistently ranks at the top in the nation.” he said.
Odo takes the financial helm at HAH as its previous CFO, a 30-year veteran in the position, retires.
“HAH will greatly miss Bess Hayashi as she moves into this next chapter of her life,” Raethel said.
”Her work ethic, business acumen and sound judgment were enormous assets to the HAH team for more than three decades. I thank her for helping build HAH into the organization it is today,” said Raethel.
In addition to Odo’s work responsibilities, she is a dedicated community volunteer.
She currently serves as a trustee for the Public Schools of Hawai‘i Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting public education in Hawai‘i.
“I look forward to advocating for Hawai‘i’s healthcare industry in my new role as CFO for the Healthcare Association of Hawaii,” Odo said. “Healthcare impacts every Hawai‘i resident, ensuring a strong healthcare system is at the heart of what we do, and I am committed to this worthy cause.”
The Healthcare Association of Hawaii is the nonprofit trade organization serving Hawai‘i’s hospitals, skilled-nursing facilities, assisted-living facilities, home-care companies and hospices.
It is the state affiliate for national organizations that include the American Hospital Association, the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living, and the National Association for Home Care and Hospice.
