Hats off to Mary Margaret Smith and all the many hands that came together, including Mark Oyama and the volunteer crew from Marks Place and Contemporary Flavors Catering on a great Kapaa Interfaith Association Thanksgiving luncheon Thursday that included an interfaith service at the overflowing All Saints Episcopal Church and Preschool (thats where the home delivery was taking place, too). The sit-down meal (there were lots of requests for take-out foil wrappers) took place in the church gym.

Jim Jung said he was an Indian last week, and following the service, donned his pilgrim hat as he greeted diners entering the gym, and then switched places to greet diners who were leaving.
Kudos, too, to The Salvation Army Capts. Bill and Cathy Simon, and Capt. Shaun Keoho (Capt. Bill said she’s back!) on hosting Thanksgiving luncheons Wednesday in Lihue and Hanapepe, as well.
Kudos to Tad Miura and his ‘ohana for allowing the Deja Vu volunteers to respect the holiday and come to work Friday morning (early … Sara Miura said she saw people on the mall when she got in at 3 a.m.). Sara said once the Black Friday excitement is over, the crews switched to Small Biz Saturday in time to open Saturday morning. And what about Cyber Monday?
And the full schedule of activities didn’t stop the crowd from enjoying the Waimea tree lighting (Kudos to Penny Young and the West Kauai Business and Professional Association) Friday night that welcomes the holiday season on the Westside.
OK, time to go check out the St. Raphael Church second lights extravaganza.
