Catherine Lo (she was at a reunion now that Juan John Ochoco is not in the hospital he also goes by John, Lo said) said shell be looking for graves of Hanapepe Massacre victims Saturday at the Filipino cemetery (its the one near Kauai Veterans Cemetery and in front of the Chinese cemetary that is overgrown in Hanapepe). Shell be joined by Michael Miranda to search for grave sites of victims of the labor dispute.

Congratulations to Alex Amorin (when did Mel retire?) on assuming the cafeteria manager responsibility at Kauai Community College. One of the things Alex is doing is bringing back the Uncle Tony shoyu chicken, named for the late and former Mayor Tony Kunimura. Too bad it was on Thursday. Gotta check out the KCC website for the menu. Are we doing the Ron Wiley special (what was that from the Kauai Kitchen days?), too?
Kudos to Chef Martina Hildorfer, who stepped in to cafeteria duty after the student help had to leave (she was missing out on the demonstration by Chef Sheldon Simeona of Maui, brought over by the Hawaii Culinary Education Foundation).
Okay, it’s off to football, and more Kauai Interscholastic Federation sports on Saturday. In between, there’s the career expo (remember the food desert discussion with the Foodland people?) at Kukui Grove Center, where Jean Souza will be looking for volunteer docents and Stephen Lucas will have his Tinker Thinking out for people to check out.
