Sharleen Andrade Balmores (shes The Ranchers Daughter!) is the sixth generation of a Kauai paniolo ohana, and is ready to start the Paniolo Heritage celebration that comes with the Koloa Plantation Days (they start the celebration early with the annual Tree Tunnel cleaning, July 13, and Movies in the Park at the Poipu Beach Park, July 12!).

Chef Dida (sure miss the Korean Mama at the Lawai Warehouse…) of The Dolphin has some lofty plans for the sushi bar at The Shops at Kukuiula eatery (they even have a fish market). She (Chef Chocolate joined her in the Chef’s Demo, Wednesday at the Kauai Culinary Market) said The Dolphin is a perfect place to celebrate birthdays if Chef Chocolate is on duty, and where were those rocks (Sandy Poenhelt of The Right Slice said July 3rd was National Drop A Rock Day!)?
Sandy (did you find any of the Fourth of July rocks Sandy prepared?) was single-handedly handling that massive Fourth of July crowd (Walmart looked like Christmas Eve, Wednesday night!), and mahalo to Pillare Mukai for bringing over samples of the Cajun Block Ahi, and teriyaki ahi and chicken being done by The Dolphin chefs.
Okay, this might be a good weekend to check out the drag races presented by the Garden Isle Racing Association — Gordon Higa said he’s gotta go fishing, early because gates open at 11 a.m., Friday and Saturday at the Kauai Raceway Park in Mana.
