LIHUE Black Pot Beach Parks reopening has been postponed.
LIHUE — Black Pot Beach Park’s reopening has been postponed.
In May, the county announced the park at the end of Weke Road on Hanalei Bay would reopen June 4.
However, early Tuesday morning county spokespeople said the reopening has been delayed. County officials are now hoping to reopen the park at the end of June.
Workers still need to construct fencing and install materials for water meters for construction on the park to be complete.
Floods in 2018 brought Hanalei River through Black Pot Beach Park as it overflowed its banks and changed course. The restroom facilities in the park were destroyed, vehicles fell into the sand, and some homes along Weke Road were damaged and others destroyed.
Work has been ongoing and Weke Road remains closed to the public.
HAHAHAHAHA -did anyone really believe that the County of Kauai would complete a project anywhere close to on time?
Meanwhile your elected officials are MIA, off on a pleasant trip to Russia and the like…. instead of holding the ball and hands of those responsible for opening our parks and roads on time.
that’s ok , just redirect visitors to haena
What a shock! Behind schedule? Not here, in Kauai??? (sarcasm)
Will it be open before 2020, that is the question.
