Val Saiki can’t be here on Kick Butts Day Wednesday. So, instead, she partnered with Hale Opio to bring a Kick Butts Day program to the Lydgate Park (ever stop to see how many discarded cigarette butts litter the parking lot?) main pavilion with new information on vaping and the impact the industry has on our young people (yes, keiki have siblings who are affected).
More kudos to La Contrades (the banana bread was super ono!) and Ka Hale Pono on a great Anahola Prince Kuhio Day celebration where those Kapaa High School Interact Club students (how could I mess up a name like Jaliyah Casem?) were everywhere, helping out.
Kelvin Moniz couldn’t help collect food for the Kauai Independent Food Bank because he was a Lion Walking for Sight (where did that take place?) fundraiser, and we have more opportunities to honor Prince Kuhio (yes, he was born on Kauai) this weekend when the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort &Spa hosts its annual protocol and accompanying cultural demonstrations (Aunty Janet Kahalekomo will have her ohana on hand because it’s spring break!) Friday morning.
Saturday, it’s time to check out Warren Perry of the Royal Order of Kamehameha, Tom Shigemoto of A&B Hawaii, and other community dignitaries (yes, Aunty Janet will be there with her mo‘opuna, too) at Prince Kuhio Park. This one operates on true Hawaiian time.
