Nalani DeSilva
Yukie-Lynn Nalani DeSilva of Kapaa passed away at Queen’s Medical Center on Jan. 26, 2019, at the age of 48. Born on Dec. 7, 1970, she was an advertising sales assistant for The Garden Island newspaper and an active CrossFitter at Kauai CrossFit.
She was preceded in death by father Yukio Higashi, brothers-in-law Alan and Shannon DeSilva, and sister-in-law Lynette Meatoga.
She is survived by husband of 29 years Kevin DeSilva, daughter Moana (Chris) Baltazar, son Dustyn (Michaela Manago) DeSilva, hanai son Kalani Kahaunaele, mother Olinda Higashi, sisters Maile (Jonah) Cummings and Anolani (Kelo Rivera) Higashi, brothers Gordon (Danice) Higashi, Alvin (Deborah) Higashi, Dean (Mel) Higashi, Blaine Kaneholani and Kenny (Kana Kaohi) Meatoga, in-laws Wayne and Rita DeSilva, brother-in-law Travis (Lisa) DeSilva, and grandchildren Cijay, Cyris, Christyn and Chloey Baltazar.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, March 9, at Anahola Beach Park, with visitation at 10 a.m. and services to follow.

Dela Cruz
Dylan-Thomas Pomaika‘i Dela Cruz, 24, of Lihue, passed away on Jan. 15, 2019, at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu. He was born on Oct. 18, 1994, and was employed at Gaylord’s at Kilohana.
He was preceded in death by grandparents MacArthur Dela Cruz and Jamie Moniz.
He is survived by daughter Teisha Dela Cruz, parents Charlotte (Dennis) Gomez and Doren (Leah) Dela Cruz, sister Kalani Kua‘e Dela Cruz, brother Darren Dela Cruz, half-sister Maileah Moulton Dela Cruz, half-brothers Lucius and Zefiya Moulton Dela Cruz, stepbrothers Nicolai and Kenai Moulton Naka‘ahiki, grandparents Linda Dela Cruz, Sharon (Larry) Duque, Lolita Moniz and Joseph (Julie) Taboniar, great-grandmother Rosalina Arizo, and numerous uncles, aunties and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Aloha Church in Lihue, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with services to follow.

Albert Carveiro
Albert Carveiro, 80, of Kaumakani, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Jan. 21, 2019. He was born in Makaweli Hospital on Nov. 30, 1938, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Gay &Robinson as a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by parents Manuel and Adeline Carveiro, brothers Robert Carveiro, Manuel Carveiro Jr., Richard Carveiro and Lawrence Carveiro, and grandson Markis Allin “Bigadamac” Carveiro.
He is survived by wife Maximina Manaday Carveiro of Kaumakani, daughters Cheryl Lynn (Albert) Carveiro Pacanas of Fremont, California, Alicia Ann (Mizdebz) Carveiro of Hanapepe, sons Alan Dwayne Carveiro of Kaumakani and James Michael (D’Neice) Carveiro of Kalaheo, nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo, with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
The family suggests casual attire.

David George Akre was born on Sept. 1, 1955 in Bellingham, Washington.
He passed away unexpectedly Jan. 16, 2019, in Kalaheo.
He is survived by wife of 42 years Julie, son Bryce, daughter Kelli (Arin Smith), and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. at Kauai Christian Fellowship Church in Koloa.
Florence K. Tamura
Florence K. Tamura, 86, of Lihue, passed away on Jan. 10, 2019, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Oct. 24, 1932, in Wahiawa, New Mill, she worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
She was preceded in death by parents Sakuji and Shizue Koga, and brother George Koga.
She is survived by husband Robert Tamura of Lihue, son Gordon (Lisa) Tamura of Lihue, daughters Tammy Tamura of Lihue and Corliss (Robin) Shimabukuro of Lihue, grandchildren Kaylee Tamura, Macy Tamura and Kalia Shimabukuro, brother Robert (Yvonne) Koga of California, sisters Margaret Makishi of Eleele and Mabel Konishi of Wailua, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Lihue Christian Church from 10 a.m., where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
The familuy suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Dennis Ichiyo Oshiro of Kapaa passed away on Jan. 30, 2019.
He was born on May 19, 1950.
He was preceded in death by father Susumu Oshiro, mother Mitsue Rachel Oshiro and sister Kathleen Nickens.
He is survived by wife Daunene “Dino” Oshiro, sons Dan Kala Oshiro of Kapaa, Karl-Anthony La‘akea Oshiro of Lihue, Poai Oshiro of Seattle, step-daughter Chrissy Gorospe of Kapaa, sister Karen Nakamura of Kalaheo and Sheri-Lyn (Alton) Amimoto of Lihue, brothers Nelson (Cheryl) Oshiro of Hanapepe and Keith Oshiro of Lihue, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue. Visitation with the family will begin at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 10 a.m.
George M. Taguma
George M. Taguma, 90, of Kalaheo, passed away on Jan. 18, 2019, in Kalaheo.
Born on March 7, 1928 in Makaweli, he was a retired radio frequency telemetry technician, and also served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by parents David and Matsuko Taguma, brothers Tsuneo and Victor Taguma, sisters Gladys (Larry) Nagata and Helen (David) Kanno and grandson Eben Kaneshiro.
He is remembered with love by the mother of his children, Sylvia Bracklin, daughters Valerie (Derwin) Kaneshiro of Kauai, Lori Taguma of Wisconsin and Carol (PeeWee) Fergerstrom of Kauai, grandchildren Ahren (Shantel) Kaneshiro, Monique (Shane) Estrella, Summer (Daniel) Kaiawe and Kasey (Sway) Fergerstrom, great-grandchildren Jeni Kaneshiro, Kamalei Estrella, Kilinahe Estrella, Jastey Fergerstrom, Kaezi Fergerstrom and Haezyn Fergerstrom, brother Lawrence (Nanako) Taguma of Kauai, caregivers Imelda Lumabao, Karla Jamoraban and Cora Martinez, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gorgonia Hilario Diego, 83, of Princeville, passed away at home on Feb. 4, 2019. She was born in Maan-Anteng, Solsona, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Dec. 9, 1935, and retired as a taro farmer.
She was preceded in death by husband Augustin Diego.
She is survived by sons Augustin Diego and Alex (Sandy) Diego, daughter Glenda Diego, five grandchildren, sisters Marina (Julio) Agacid and Priscilla DeVera, brothers Cosme (Virgie) Hilario, Andy (Liza) Jambaro and Vincente (Mary) Hilario, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at St. William Church in Hanalei, with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Hanalei Valley Chinese Cemetery.

Shime Yamakawa
Shime Yamakawa, 90, of Koloa, passed away on Jan. 28, 2019, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home. He was born on May 5, 1928, in Waimea. He retired as a factory supervisor from Olokele Sugar Company and also served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by parents Hisakichi and Shizuyo Kuratani Yamakawa, wife Mitsue Yamakawa, brothers Sueyoshi, Matsumi, Matsuyoshi and Hisashi, sisters Hatsuyo Yamakawa, Hasuko Yamakawa, Mitsuyo Nomi and Umeno Ikari, and grandson Ryan Hajime Yamaakawa.
He is survived by son Rodney (Janice) Yamakawa of Honolulu, daughters Lynn (Vernon) Fu of Koloa, Annette (Dave) Printers-Harris of Honolulu and Lorene Yoshimura-Tanigawa of Honolulu, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, sisters Patsy Takeno Watanabe of Honolulu and Carole Akiko Yukihiro of Honolulu, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery pavilion in Hanapepe from 10 to 10:45 a.m., where services will be celebrated from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow. The family suggests casual attire.
