In response the Dec. 23 letter: Go online to Best and Worst Charities for your Donations Consumer reports dated Nov 27, 2018. You will find a list of charities in specific areas that are high rated and low rated in respect to the percentage of donations that actually go to the charity specified.
Be advised that under the category of Police and Firefighter Support, every charity listed in that classification is low rated.
Also, use your brains. I never give to any political candidate or party. I do not wish to pay for those eyesore signs that are put up. I just read what the candidates say and vote accordingly. Also, you people that gave to the Republican National Committee, don’t forget that $130,000 from that fund was paid to Stormy Daniels.

State should require fishing permits or licenses
I’ve came across an article titled,”Report illegal fishing,” and I think that not just West Hawaii, but all of Hawaii should make it illegal to capture fish without the proper permits or licenses.
When people just take fish from the ocean not knowing what kind of fish it is, and take it just because it looks pretty, they don’t have the proper knowledge of the fish, and what harming their populations unresponsively can do to the ecosystem.

It’s already against the law all over Hawaii to capture fish without the proper permits or licenses. Do some research…it’s always better to be informed on a topic before making statements.
