Rudolf (the rooster) has a specially-made blinking red nose (no, it’s not the usual clown nose) in the surfing Santa exhibit that was being worked on by Kesomi Fonua of Kapaa High School,who had just come back after a heartbreaking loss to Lahainaluna at the First Hawaiian Bank Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II football championships on Oahu, where his dad, Manu Fonua, got a break from setting up trees for the opening.
More Hawaiian lifestyle was available at the Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club’s craft fair benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network as the National Tropical Botanical Garden’s Na Lima Kokua volunteers Margaret McGinty and Susan Spero pointed out how visitors bringing home the unique, hand-painted gourds with holiday themes are reminded of being back here.
Jessica Clabo was working another table at the craft fair, and said NTBG will be hosting its 15th annual Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the South Shore Visitor Center near Spouting Horn Park on Lawai Road. They’ll be accepting food donations for the Hawaii Foodbank Kauai Branch, too.
