KOLOA — The Bushwacka’s annual July 4th Softball Tournament was held at Rosie Bukoski Memorial Park in Koloa last weekend with 13 teams from all islands.
KOLOA — The Bushwacka’s annual July 4th Softball Tournament was held at Rosie Bukoski Memorial Park in Koloa last weekend with 13 teams from all islands.
The defending champions, Bushwacka’s from Koloa, prevailed for the third straight year in a competitive 32-game format. The grueling schedule had teams playing four games each day.
Bushwacka’s beat Red Eye SoulJah’s in the final contest of the tournament. Red Eye SoulJah’s, finishing second, had to beat Bully’s, also of Koloa, for the chance at knocking off the “Bush.” Bully’s finished third in the standings. Country Boyz, from Oahu and coached by Keoki Gardner, received recognition for their sportsmanship.
Other competitors included Da Hui from Hilo coached by Don Ouderkirk, 808 and ZigZag from Maui coached by Mike Ruiz and Larry Ragundo, Head Droppas and Cosco from Honolulu coached by Kyle Linoz and Rick Soon.
From Kauai were the MoonShiners coached by Ikaika Pezzario, Young Guns coached by Galen Alvarez, Team Kela by Gavin Raquel and Eastside Kauai coached by Rich Bryan. Bully’s was coached by Bully Balocan.
