Free Hawaiian language workshop Wednesday in Princeville

Puamelia Pramuka leads a free Hawaiian language workshop Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Princeville Public Library.

PRINCEVILLE — The Friends of the Library at Princeville and the Princeville Public Library will present “Olelo Hawaii — Do You Speak Hawaiian?” on Wednesday.

Attendees will learn about the history of the Hawaiian language, as well as its alphabet and how to pronounce the letters, some common phrases, plus the Hawaiian names of Kauai beaches and mountains. Attendees will also learn a short chant. Presenter will be Puamelia Pramuka.

The free event is 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Princeville Public Library.
