LIHUE — For the 2018 Elections, five political parties have qualified to appear on the ballot. They are: Constitution Party; Democratic Party; Green Party; Libertarian Party; and Republican Party.
These parties may field candidates for partisan contests like U.S. Senate or state representative. Candidates not affiliated with a political party can still run as nonpartisan candidates.
These political parties and nonpartisans will be on the ballot for the Primary Election on Aug. 11. Hawaii conducts a single-party primary where voters must indicate their political preference and vote only for candidates associated with their selected political preference.
The General Election is on Nov. 6.
