Kudos to the Lihue Christian Church (the line waiting for doors to open went around the social hall and toward the church!) on a successful bazaar Saturday! Pastor Malcolm Carr had his daughter Olwyen secure in a harness (works better than a tether, he said) — until she saw her friend Avery Domingsel.
Vianne Tabata (Lyle Tabata and Boy Scouts from Troop 148 left early for an overnight stay aboard the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor on Oahu) said this was the first time she wasn’t asked to help at the Coconut Festival, so spent her morning helping kupuna with their bazaar shopping.
Alton Miyamoto (sushi first) said you have time to plan your attack while waiting in line for the doors to open, and once the doors opened, he was done in less than half an hour so he could make it to Matsuri Kauai (he said the Enka singer, Torao Hikariyama, was really good).
Andy Oda was one of the volunteers selling Ae Kamalii Preschool cookbooks (they make good Christmas gifts and don’t cost a bundle) as a fundraiser along with their Spam musubi and plate lunches. They still have them available at the school now that the bazaar is history for this year.
OK, time to go check on the job fair at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
