Beat Castle 1-0 in state soccer openerHONOLULU — The Kapa’a High School
girls soccer team remained undefeated and got off to a good start in the HHSAA
State Soccer Championship tournament yesterday at Aloha Stadium.
The
Warrior girls beat Castle High School of O’ahu 1-0.
Maja Marti scored the
game’s only goal in the 59th minute.
The goal came off a free kick by
Ingrid Nakamura who blasted a long shot from the right side of the box to the
left side of the goal where Marti deflected the ball off her chest and into the
goal.
Kapa’a dominated on offense with 18 shots on goal compared to
Castle’s 5.
Kapa’a faces top-seeded Kamehameha (9-1-2) Thursday at 7:30
p.m.
The Warriors are 10-0, while Castle dropped to 8-4-1.
Goalies
Kanoe Arinaga and Jasmine Stevenson combined for the shutout for Kapa’a.
In
other state tourney games: Aiea beat Waiakea 1-0, Mililani blanked Kealakehe
4-0, and Pearl City tripped Maui 2-0.
The tournament will continue through
Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. championship game.
