As a newcomer to the media on our island, it is certainly not my place to tell
my fellow members of the press how to do their jobs, nor is it my intention to
criticize or single out any one media representative.
I am, however
concerned with the way “the press” has dealt with the arrest of a
housewife, her 21 year-old, and a group of young Hawaiian men who form the hot
new Kaua’i band “Universal Culture.”
I am a good friend of
Michele Lindstedt, and her son Ryan, and I also know the boys of Universal
Culture. Indeed, on the night in question, I picked them all up about 4 a.
m.
I spoke with several officers, and none of them said that Michelle or
the boys arrested were the ones who threw the beer bottles.
Here’s the
thing: No one has asked Michele her side of the story, so no one could know
that as far as she knew the boys were fishing, barbecuing, and playing music on
the beach to celebrate Ryan’s 21st.
How many of us, growing up here on
Kaua’i, ever partied down the beach on our birthdays? And since no one has
asked Michele her side, no one would know that Michele went to dinner with us,
and then wanted to go check on the boys, and was arrested minutes after she got
there.
Some kids had a party at the beach. Some real jerks crashed the
party and injured two police officers. The perpetrators have not yet been
apprehended, but they will be, because this is a very small island and we don’t
take kindly to our police officers getting hurt.
If anyone knows anything,
it is your duty to come forward and tell because these officers put their lives
on the line for each one of us, every day.
Stop crucifying Michele
Lindstedt, her son Ryan, and the band “Universal Culture,” Kaua’i,
and let’s find out who’s really responsible for the injuries of the two KPD
officers.
