fourth-quarter points to pace the Wildcats’ 25-23 win over the Kaumakani
Supersonics in KYBA 14-Under girls basketball played at the Bernice Hundley Gym
at Kapa`a High School.
Kaumakani fell behind 11-5 in the opening quarter,
but surged back with 8-4 runs in the second and third periods before sputtering
6-2 in the final quarter as they came up with no field goals, and a 2-for-4
showing at the free throw line.
The Wildcats piled up a pair of field
goals, but stumbled at the free throw line, showing a 2-for-9 performance in
the final frame.
Aficial was top scorer for Puhi Wildcats with 9 points
with Janna Soto also had 9 points to lead the Supersonics.
Mariko
Strickland, Nadia Badua, and Amber Thronas paced the Pua Loke scoring through
three quarters to lead the team to a 38-5 win over the Hanapepe RefuGs in the
evening’s finale.
Strickland ended the night with 12 points followed by
Badua with ten points, and Thronas finishing the night with eight
markers.
Cheryl Badua trey in the opening stanza paced the Hanapepe RefuGs
scoring with Myra Bunao adding a pair to account for the math.
