Kaua`i Blue Dolphins win in Hawai`i Cup 2000

MAUI—The Kaua`i Blue Dolphins, a 10 & Under girls soccer team captured

third place in the Hawai`i Cup 2000 held recently on Maui and featuring teams

from Hawai`i and California.

The Blue Dolphins are coached by Gary Towner

and assistant coach Shari Shimabukuro and made up of girls from Kalaheo and

Lihu`e.

The team was undefeated going into the playoffs, suffering their

first loss in the final few minutes to Pearl City who ended the tournament in

first place for their age-division. California ended in second with the Blue

Dolphins in third over Kaneohe.

Team members include: Victoria Espino, Skye

Shimabukuro, Corey Mann, Jaezelle Balilea, Zoe Finn, Caitlyn Towner, Shaye

Donnelly, Kristen Shim, Chaslee Delanoza, Sanoe Souza, Mona Schimmelfenning,

Laurelle Rosare.
