Buren H. Jordan Buren H. “BH” Jordan of Princeville, HI died at the
Veterans Administration Center for Rehabilitation on O’ahu on Aug. 25, 2000, at
the age of 80.
“BH” is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pauline Jordan of
Princeville; one brother, C. Le Gett of Charlotte, NC and one sister, Mrs. Sam
(Jean) Guy, of Catwaba, SC; five nieces and two nephews.
After a 29-year
career in the U.S. Army, he worked in private industry, including 21 years with
a government contractor in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, where he served as an
associate judge in the Community Court of the Trust Territory from 1966 to
1970.
Born Aug. 9, 1920, in Ruby, SC, he was a member of the Thompson
Creek Baptist Church in Chesterfield, SC, Masonic Blue Lodge in South Carolina,
Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple in Springfield, Missouri, Disabled American
Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Lions Club, Blinded
Veterans Association, and Aloha Council of the Blind (where he served as
president for two years). He was listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the West,
1974-5. In 1981, Gov. George Ariyoshi presented him with the Silver Beaver
Award, the highest honor a volunteer leader can receive, from the Boy Scouts of
America, Aloha Council.
A memorial service will be held at the Prince Club
in Princeville at at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, with Pastor Jessie Layaoen
officiating.
Masonic services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the
National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl at 2 p.m. followed by
full military honors. His ashes will be interred at Punchbowl.
The family
asks that flowers be omitted. Donations may be made in his memory to the Shrine
Hospital for Children (Crippled and Burned Unit), 1310 Punahou; Honolulu, HI

W. Stephen Bogardus
The Bogardus family is planning a Memorial
Celebration of the life of W. Stephen Bogardus Sunday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. at
St. Michael and All Angels Church at the corner of Umi and Hardy
Streets.
The Rev. Malcolm Miner assisted by the Rev. Mrs. Linda Sutherland
will officiate at the service. A reception with Mr. Bogardus’ sister, Jane
Hughes, will follow in the parish hall. Pupus and light refreshments will be
served.
Scattering of ashes will be private. Aloha attire is
suggested.

Moyo Kinoshita
Moyo Kinoshita of Koloa, Kauai, died at Kauai
Care Center on Aug. 27, 2000, at the age of 99. Born in Yamaguchi Ken, Japan
on March 21, 1901, she is survived by: son: Harlan “Bumpo” (Joyce) Kinoshita
of Honolulu, Oahu; four daughters: Nobuko (Jitsuo) Tomomitsu of Kekaha, Kauai,
Judy (Yoshio) Kubota of Waimea, Kauai, Molly (Nobuaki) Ikeda of Kona, Hawaii,
and Sally (Jack) Lee of Hilo, Hawaii; daughter-in-law: Yachie Kinoshita of
Honolulu, Oahu; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister: Sueko
Nishijima of Japan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service were
private.
