Okay, a beer and champagne-tasting party might not be a typical way of raising
money for the benefit of children. But that dichotomy can be overlooked in
light of the Po’ipu Rotary Club’s admirable intentions.
The club’s
International Beer and Champagne festival will feature sampling of exotic
libations from Asia, Central America and Europe. International food will also
be part of the event Sept. 23 in Kapa’a. And it’s all for a good cause: The
ongoing humanitarian service of Rotary. In the case of the Po’ipu club, that
includes raising more than $20,000 this year for playground equipment at Koloa
School, scholarships at Kaua’i Community College and other community
interests.
The bubbly and brew is for adults. The proceeds are for
students. Po’ipu Rotary seems to have found a winning combination.
