concerned about their risk of contracting diabetes to find out exactly where
they stand.
Free blood sugar testing for the disease is being sponsored
locally in November — National Diabetes Month — by Kaua`i Medical Clinic,
Ho`ola Lahui Hawai`i, Shoreview Pharmacy, Kaua`i Department of Health, American
Diabetes Association, Diabetes Awareness Coalition of Hawai`i, Kaua`i Diabetes
Task Force and Life Scan and Bayer Corp.
On Nov. 4, the testing will be
sponsored in three locations: Kmart in Lihu`e from 8 to 11:30 a.m., Big Save in
Waimea, also from 8 to 11:30, and at Cost-U-Less in Kapa`a from 9 a.m. to
noon.
More free testing is available Nov. 7 from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Kaua`i
Medical Clinic in ‘Ele’ele, and on Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. to noon at Kukui Grove’s
Senior Health Fair.
Fasting is not required.
