LIHU’E — It was only to be expected. On a team whose heart and soul is
comprised of seniors, tears were sure to flow at the final home game.
And
for Kaua’i leaders Danielle Kiyabu, Rona Nishikawa, Heather Roberts, Misty Hug
and Kim Downing, the moment was sweet.
And after their necks were wrapped
in leis, all of the Red Raiders proceeded to discard visiting Kapa’a 15-2,
15-6.
Literally all.
Head coach Richard Roberts emptied his bench in
the second game, giving his reserves valuable playing experience as the girls
gear up for the state playoffs.
Juniors Tiare Toulon and Erin Garlie fared
particularly well.
Though junior Tiana Lum-Tucker led the Raiders with six
kills, Garlie managed to pound out four.
Meanwhile Toulon proved to be
solid from the service line, and a setter Kaua’i might look to if
necessary.
The Warriors ended their season battling as hard as they did on
day one.

In girls’ action, Kaua’i got the best of Kapa’a 15-10,
15-3. But the Warriors returned the favor in the boys’ match, 17-15, 15-4.
