Kaua'i boys don't leave empty handed

The Kaua’i High School boys varsity basketball team emerged with the

seventh-place award at the Big Island Candies/Hilo High School Holiday Prep

Classic.

The Red Raiders defeated Greenville (CA) 55-50 Saturday to secure

its only win of the tournament. R-Jay Pillos led Kaua’i with 24 points on eight

3-pointers. Jason Kashiwabara scored 12 for the Raiders. Kaua’i led 34-21 at

halftime, before allowing Greenville to crawl back into the game.

Waiakea

won the tournament with a 50-42 victory over Baldwin.

Pillos successfully

defended his 3-point shootout championship.
