Monday, the Kaua’i County Council decided to stop talking about recycling and see what is being done about it.
The council, accompanied by a few citizens, toured five spots between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. They were joined at a couple by Mayor Maryanne Kusaka and her assistant, Wally Rezentes Sr.
“There is great interest in our community for recycling that will enhance and expand what already is under contract on our island,” Kusaka said.
The tour included Habitat for Humanity in Hanapepe, Kaua’i Food Bank, JC Sandblasting, Garden Isle Disposal and the Kaua’i Resource Center.
County clerk Peter Nakamura said all seven council members participated in the tour.
“They wanted to get an idea of the operations that were out there,” Nakamura said.
