Wahine hit track running
The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine cross country team came away with a first place finish at the Willamette Invitational (5K) in Salem, Oregon last Saturday.
The Wahine were victorious overall, but more importantly, they were victorious among all Division 1 schools. Hawaii lead all schools with a 42 point total, including last year’s top team Oregon.
Senior standout Cheryl Smith once again lead the way for the Wahine, finishing first. She completed the course with a time of 16:56.33 to lead all 388 women competitors.
The senior averaged 5:27 per mile. She missed the course record of 16:9.7 by 37 seconds.

The Waimea Youth Baseball Association will be holding its General Membership Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Waimea Canyon School Park Pavillion at 7:00 p.m.
