Beatrice Morris Souza
Beatrice Morris Souza of Lawai, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Hospital on Dec. 29, 2001, at the age of 86.
Born in Wailuku, Maui on March 30, 1915, she was a housewife and a beloved mother of six children.
She is survived by four sons: Frank Gilbert (Ruby) Morris of Sacramento, California; Leonard (Ichiko) Morris of Omao; Herbert (Carol) Morris of Placentia, California; Melvin Roy (Cheryl) Morris of Lawa’i and two daughters: Sylvia Martin of Lawa’i and Laverne (Lee) Bessert of Wailua; one brother, one sister, both of California, 25 grand children and 26 great-grand children, also survives her.
Family and friends may call on Jan. 12, at Kalaheo Missionary Church with visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by services and burial at Kaua’i Memorial Gardens. Services will be officiated by Reverend Butch Kahawai. Casual attire is suggested, flowers omitted.

Theodore Buettner
Theodore “Ted” Charles Buettner of Honolulu and formerly of Kaua’i, died Dec. 28, 2001, at Tripler Hospital at the age of 58.
Formerly affiliated with Punua Insurance Agency as a specialist in cancer and intensive care insurance, he was born in Hackensack, N.J., and lived in Hawai’i for 18 years.
He is survived by daughter, Devorah “Debbie,” grandsons, Leland, Bronson, Spencer and Theodore-Ethan; and former wife, Lolita Spires.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Kapahulu Ave., with service at 7 p.m. Burial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Hawai’i State Veterans Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Moanalua Mortuary.
Richard Takeo Furushima
Richard Takeo Furushima of Po’ipu, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on Jan. 6, 2002, at the age of 82.
Born in Makaweli, Kaua’i on Aug. 22, 1919, he retired from AMFAC.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Po’ipu; sons, Ralph (Peggy) Furushima of Phoenix, AZ. and Dennis (Kathleen) Furushima of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; daughters, Carol (Gene) Moriguchi of Lihu’e, Kaua’i and Gail (Greg) Makishi of Ewa Beach, O’ahu; brother, Hiroshi (Bessie) Furushima of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; sister-in-law, Matsue Furushima; step-children, Alan (Kris) Sasaki of Haciena Hts., CA., and Melvin (Elaine) Sasaki of Mililani, O’ahu, Ruth Matsumoto of Honolulu, O’ahu and Joyce (Reggie) Nakaoka of Haciena Hts., CA. 10 grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Service officiated by Rev. Earl Ikeda will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.

John Rapozo, Jr.
John Rapozo, Jr., of Pakala, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on Jan. 6, 2002, at the age of 84.
Born in Pakala, Kaua’i, on Feb. 20, 1917, He was an Auto Mechanic for Gay & Robinson.
He is survived by his wife: Bena Rapozo of Makaweli; three sons: Warren (Edna) Rapozo of Kona, Norman (Jane) Rapozo of Kaumakani, Bryan (Andre) Rapozo of Hilo; two brothers: Adam Rapozo of Makaweli, Joseph Rapozo of Makaweli, two sisters: Lillian Kouchi of Waimea, Betty Woodward of Texas, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Jan. 11, at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Waimea, from 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kaua’i Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.
