Jeanette “Jeanie-J-Girl” Ula Smith of Honolulu, died May 1, 2002, at her home at the age of 27 after a brief illness.
Born in Waimea, Kaua’i, on Jan. 17, 1975, she was a homemaker.
Preceded in death by her son, Shadden Tu, she is survived by her husband: Spc. Joseph Smith; and daughters Shantel Crawford and Seirra Pierce-Tu, all of Honolulu. Also her parents, Filo and Jeanette (Cremer) Tu of Honolulu; three brothers: Keith (Jasmine Mariano) Hardy of Hanapepe, Robert (Liann) Hardy of Lihu’e; Tavita (Christy) Tu of Honolulu; sister Susan (Mark) Moriwake of Hanapepe and grandmother, Fano Tu of Samoa. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held at Borthwick Mortuary in Honolulu with interment at Nuuanu.
Haruo Kimura
Haruo Kimura of Makaweli, Kauai, died at home on May 5, 2002 at the age of 83.
Born in Waimea, Hawaii on March 9, 1919, he was a boat captain with Ni’ihau Ranch.
He is survived by wife, Yuriko of Makaweli, Kauai; three sons, Clyde Kimura of Missouri, Reid (Ethel) Kimura of California, and Curtis (Joy) Kimura of Waimea, Kauai; daughter, Elise (Michael) Tittle of Missouri; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Masaru Kimura of Honolulu, O’ahu; four sisters, Yachiyo Woods of Honolulu, Oahu, Mitsuko Hookano of Waimea, Kauai, Tomiko Akuna and Yoshiko (Donald) Young; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were private. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
