The normally dominant Rookie team seemed fragile to the Lihue A’s, the K-Makules got a key win over Kawaihau and the Senior Softball League has three teams tied for first in the second round standings.
Whew! What a weekend it was for softball.
In the first game of a three-game series at Wailua Ball Park on Saturday, the K-Makules scored 9 runs in the top of the 7th to take a 14-7 win over Kawaihau.
Jay Acoba was the winning pitcher. Teddy Daligdig had 2 outs with a one run lead, but Tad Hashimoto got a base hit. Herman Fraticelli tied the game hitting a triple sending Hashimoto with the tying run. Both Tada and Herman got 2 hits before the 3rd out was made. Ben Pescador scored a 2 run homer.
For Kawaihau, only Steve Fujii got 3 hits.
In game two:
West Kauai took a 19-7 win over East Kauai.
Joe Silva came back from his sick leave and got the win for West Kauai.
Ronnie Holt was the looser.
Boni Garma and Ron Javier had 3 hits each for West Kauai while Richard Kaui and Sonny Labuguen both had 3 hits apiece for East Kauai.
In game three:
The 3rd game was all Lihue “A”s as they downed The Rookies 11-3.
Joe Brun got the win while Archi Fontanilla got the loss.
Pete Rayno socked a 3 run homer on 2 hits Glenn Akina and Dwight Fuji both with 3 hits a piece.
Walter Souza hit a homer on 3 hits, Hank Nishikawa and Archie Fontanilla paired hits for The Rookies.

There is a 3 way tie for first place, each teams maintaining a record of 4 wins, 1 loss.
These teams are the K-Makules, the Lihue “A”s and The Rookies.
Fourth place goes to West Kauai, who have a 2-3 record. In fifth is East Kauai with a 1-4 record. And Kawaihau has not won a game yet and has an 0-5 record.
On Saturday there will be another three game series, this time at Isenberg Field, with the Lihue “A”s playing Kawaihau in the 9:15 a.m. opener. East Kauai meets the K-Makules in the second game, and West Kauai will take on The Rookies in the last game.
