Goodfellow Brothers will be completing final striping work on Rice Street next week.
Today and Monday, the striping of lanes on the Museum side of Rice Street will be completed. On Tuesday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 17, striping will continue on the lanes on the Post Office side of Rice Street, beginning at Haleko Street and continuing toward Hoolako Street.
On Thursday, July 18 and Friday, July 19, painting of directional arrows and crosswalks will occur.
Two-directional traffic will be accommodated at all times, however the contractor requests that extreme caution be exercised by drivers on Rice Street during this process, to insure the safety of the workers.
Barring any unforeseen changes to this schedule, Rice Street will be fully reopened to traffic by the end of the day on Friday, July 19.
“There are still some punchlist items to be addressed. However, in the near future we will be planning a blessing and dedication to mark the completion of this project,” said Public Information Officer Beth Tokioka.
Mayor Maryanne Kusaka expressed her gratitude to all Rice Street merchants and homeowners, “They’ve been incredibly patient and accommodating, and we hope they will join us, along with anyone else who would like to take part, at the blessing.”
More details regarding the blessing and dedication will be provided, as they become available.
