Happy to have onstreet parking again, although it’s only legal during certain hours of the business day, is Rose Schmidt, owner of Cravings Maternity Shop & Consignment Boutique on Rice Street in Lihu’e.
The store, founded by Schmidt when she was pregnant with son Tucker and had a hard time finding “hip, affordable maternity clothes to wear,” also found the store the perfect opportunity to work and spend quality time with her son at the same time.
The shop offers a great way for new moms and mothers to be to recycle clothing, and while the shop is primarily consignment, where women can bring used maternity clothes and baby items to recycle and make money, too, the store also carries new maternity clothes and related items.
Among the more popular products, Schmidt has found, are the Bravado brand maternity, nursing bras and underwear items.
“Pregnant women are hot and uncomfortable, and we try to help them feel better and look great without breaking the bank,” she said.
New arrivals (besides the two-legged ones) include baby slings, which offer new moms ways to not only carry their newborns in a hands-free manner, but accommodate breastfeeding in public as well.
Whether shoppers are expecting a baby or shopping for someone who is, Schmidt is sure people will find a wide selection of items for babies from newborn to two years old, new baptismal wear, and much more.
The store offers new dresses, nursing bras and support belts, used maternity clothing, baby clothing and baby furniture and accessories, and a wide variety of ever-changing consignment items.
Store hours are Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Onstreet parking is free from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, and more free parking is available at the rear of the store, where a rear entrance is available through adjacent Hair Razors Salon.
The shop is across Rice Street from Central Pacific Bank.
