The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts Commission is meeting at Gaylord’s at Kilohana on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Mona Abadir, SFCA chair, said, “We occasionally hold our monthly meetings on the neighbor islands throughout the year as part of our outreach plan to stay connected to the people we serve.”
During the meeting, the commission is scheduled to hear presentations from five representatives of Kaua’i arts organizations who currently receive funding from the SFCA arts program. They include: Mary Requilman of the Kaua’i Historical Society, LaVerne Bishop of the Kaua’i Academy of Creative Arts, Joanne Nakashima of the Kaua’i Chorale, Sally French of the Kaua’i Society of Artists and Carol Yotsuda of the Garden Island Arts Council.
Following the meeting, the commissioners are set to tour Kaua’i Community College to view commissioned art and tour the college’s theater with Bobbie Franklin. They will also go to the Kukui Grove Shopping Center to visit to visit the exhibition venue of the Garden Island Arts Council and the Kaua’i Society of Artists.
