Leahi Soccer Club to hold clinic
The Leahi Soccer Club from Oahu will hold a free clinic at the mauka end of the North Vidinha soccer field on July 19.
The first half of the clinic will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon and this will be for girls ages 7-12.
The second half will be held from 2-4:30 p.m. for girls ages 13-19.
All girls on the island are invited to attend.
All girls are asked to bring proper soccer equipment (soccer shoes, shin guards), a ball, and water.
The clinic will be presented by the Leahi Soccer Club of Oahu as a free service to the community of Kauai.
There will be six coaches from Leahi who will work with the girls on field and goalie play.
One of the coach’s will be Michelle Nagamine, girl’s varsity soccer coach at Kamehameha High School and former player at Santa Clara University.
The other five coaches are Myrissa Olanda from Hawaii Pacific University, Shellie Silva from the University of San Francisco, Missy Moore and Amanda Paterson from UH and Hilary Okumura from Creighton University.
The coaches will also be talking to the kids about using soccer as a means to help further their education and preparation for college.

Kauai All stars beat Maui
MAUI — The Kauai Babe Ruth All Stars advanced to the winners bracket of the state tournament with a 6-0 win over the Maui Red All Stars on Friday.
Starting pitcher Alec Reichle struck out 13 batters while walking three and giving up one hit.
Rayson Cacal closed the door on Maui, striking out two in the final at bat. Jason Miyahara (UH Hilo) picked up the loss for Maui Red despite striking out 12 Kauai batters.
Leading the hitting attack for Kauai was Clarence Aki who went 2-for-4, with Kirby Yates, Rayson Cacal, Scott Serizawa, Jake Oketani and Casey Oketani adding a single each.
Maui’s lone hit came off the bat of Jared Agcaoili in the 5th inning.
Kauai faced the Big Island All Stars on Saturday at for the right to play in the championship game.
Tourney starts August 15
The friends of Cody Kangiser will be hosting a benefit softball tournament on August 15, 16, 17, 2003 to be held at the Kekaha Ball Parks.
The tournament will consist of ten teams for the Men’s slo-pitch, which will be a bracket pool play with a round robin, women’s slo-pitch and junior girls fast-pitch.
Entry fee will be $125 per team for both the men and women and $100 for junior girls fast-pitch. Deadline to enter is August 10, 2003.
To close this special benefit softball tournament, there will be a luau held on Sunday evening, August 17, at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center.
This luau will be for all participating teams and their families as well as the open public. Tickets will be $5 per person and may be purchased in advance.
